How the web may be accelerating intelligence

One of Joseph Beuys ideas was the “Free international university”. He envisioned it as a collection of educated individuals sharing their knowledge with others.

The web has become a type of “free university”.

I have had the opportunity of meeting kids in their teens were reading Baudrillard, and talking about some advanced concepts. I had more interesting conversations with these kids than I have had with individuals with masters degrees.

This has led me to believe that the web is having an effect on the speed of intelligence development. I believe the web’s ability to quickly establish relationships between information is helping individuals connect information and knowledge at an increasing and rapid pace.

I am beginning to think that the web is an integral element of the human evolution.

I am going to propose that we may see young individuals (Gen-Y and millenials) exhibit an unprecedented level of intelligence over time.
